१८५६ में सौराष्ट्र में पदार्पण किया। वहाँ उद्धवावतार श्री रामानंद स्वामी को मिले। रामानंदस्वामी उस तेजस्वी युवा ब्रह्मचारी को धर्मधुरा सौंपकर अंतर्धान हुए ।

એની અંદર વર્ણન પણ એવા આવેલ છે કે સાંભળીને સાંપ્રદાયિક ભક્તોનાં તો હૃદય ખીલે એમાં તો કાંઈ શંકા નથી પણ અન્ય મતપંથી ભક્તોને પણ આ કીર્તનો વાંચવા

સનાતન ધર્મને સુસંગત ને નવી હથોરોટીવાળા સદાચાર મૂલક પોતાના ભાગવત ધર્મ સંદેશને અધર્મના અંધારામાં અટવાતી આમ જનતા સુધી લઈ જવા સહજાનંદ સ્વામીએ ધર્મ પાલનની ધગશ ધરાવતું અને તપત્યાગ વૈરાગ્યે  યુક્ત એવું સંતવૃંદ તૈયાર કર્યું
